Growing up, I was a shy kid. Due to my shyness, I didn’t make friends easily. So I cherished the few close friends I had. One of them attended the church my dad pastored. This handsome, young guy played the drums at the church. Unfortunately, he became an alcoholic during his teen years. Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t stop drinking as an adult. Because of his addiction, he was arrested multiple times, lost a good job, and even suffered bodily harm. He was injured badly in a bar fight. When he went to a nearby home seeking help, the homeowner mistakenly thought my friend was a burglar and shot him. Thankfully, this friend has been sober for the last couple of years. His family has never been happier. On this blog, I hope you will discover ways to help your family member who is struggling with substance abuse.
